An acoustic transparency screen (also called a sound-transparent screen or acoustically transparent projection screen) is a projection screen designed to let sound from speakers behind it pass through with minimal loss, while still delivering good image quality from a projector.
These screens are made from special perforated or woven fabrics with very small holes or an open weave.
The tiny openings let sound waves travel through the material so that speakers (especially a center-channel speaker) can be placed directly behind the screen, just like in a commercial cinema.
They are engineered to minimize impact on picture quality — maintaining brightness, contrast, and sharpness even with the perforations.
Better audio-video alignment: Sound appears to come from the on-screen action rather than beside or in front of it.
Immersive home theater: Speakers hidden behind the screen create a cleaner, more cinematic setup.
High-resolution support: Modern acoustically transparent screens are suitable for 4K/8K projectors without significant moiré or visible perforations at normal viewing distances.
Micro-perforated materials: Thousands of microscopic holes allow sound to pass while the surface still reflects projected light effectively.
Woven acoustic fabrics: A woven structure allows sound to pass through the weave itself, often with even lower visible hole effects.
We offer several types of acoustic transparency screens — all designed to let sound pass through while preserving image quality. The following are some well-known and popular series.:
Acoustic Transparency Fixed Frame (FP): Micro-perforated or woven acoustically transparent option for fixed frame screen.
7 mm Frame Acoustic Transparency Screen (FZ): Micro-perforated or woven acoustically transparent option for Ultra-thin bezel frame screen.
Self-Rising ALR Acoustic Transparency Screen (TD): Portable floor-rising screen with micro-perforated T8 fabric, also offers ambient-light rejection.
Curved Frame Projection Screen (FC): Micro-perforated or woven acoustically transparent option for fixed frame screen.
Acoustic Screen Material- These can be made from perforated or woven materials, often used in home theaters or recording studios to allow sound to pass to speakers without obstructing the view.
White Micro-Perforated (TM fabric) – A perforated acoustic-transparent projection surface that lets sound pass through while maintaining image quality.
Woven Acoustically Transparent (TW fabric) – Woven sound-transparent fabric designed for high color fidelity and minimal moiré, enabling sound penetration.
Long-Throw ALR Micro Perforated (T8 fabric) – Micro-perforated acoustically transparent material that also provides ambient-light rejection (ALR).
HighGain Color Enhanced Micro Perforated (TS fabric) – A micro-perforated front-projection screen material designed for high image brightness and excellent sound transparency.
Gauze Screen (TG fabric) - A lightweight gauze/open scrim projection surface.
If you need a recommendation on which of these materials is best for your specific projector type and room conditions (e.g., ambient light level, throw distance, size, speaker placement), feel free to aks
